Sympatico’s resident performing choral group, the Singing Eagles (SE) has been meeting every day after school since the 2013-2014 school year. The group consists of 30 students from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. SE students must have the ability to match pitch, be able to learn music aurally and visually while following a conductor, and have intermediate rhythmic proficiency. Taught by Emily Smith, SE is fond of singing songs in languages other than English in an effort to reflect the multicultural character of the John Adams community. A particular trademark of the Singing Eagles rehearsal process is their end-of-week mini-performances, which allows students to practice both performance and audience etiquette.
