Strings at Sunrise (SaS) has been meeting every day before school since 2013. Named by its students, SaS began with 5 upper strings players in its first year; it has since grown in instrumentation and size. Taught by Alexandria Luke, the ensemble features 12 students in grades 3-5 playing violin and viola. The ensemble regularly performs and collaborates with other ensembles, in addition to having its own repertoire. During workshop weeks, SaS benefits from previous students returning to and performing with the ensemble. Students in SaS are required to have intermediate rhythmic proficiency and the ability to match pitch.
